The business was established in 2005 by Ray Simmons as a natural extension of the family farming enterprise, R J Simmons Agricultural Services Ltd, which has been serving Surrey and the surrounding counties since 1981. As an agricultural business, there are seasonal periods when farming work slows, creating the perfect opportunity to diversify into supplying high-quality firewood to local homes. What began as a practical addition to the farm soon developed into a trusted local business, known for reliable service, premium hardwood logs, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

In October 2019, Ray handed the day-to-day running of Hogs Back Logs to his son, Ryan, who continues to grow and develop the business while maintaining the high standards and personal service that customers have come to expect. Ryan works closely with his father and brother, Jim, making Hogs Back Logs a true family-run business spanning two generations. Together, they bring a combination of experience, local knowledge, and a passion for delivering quality products to homes across the UK.
While we remain proud of our strong local reputation throughout Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, and the surrounding areas, the business has recently entered an exciting new chapter. In addition to our local bulk deliveries, we now supply our premium Ready to Burn certified hardwood logs and firewood products nationwide in convenient 15kg boxes.
